Joseph L. Schneider Obituary

Joseph L. Schneider, 88 of Canonsburg passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Greenery Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Canonsburg.

He was born on June 21, 1930 in Pittsburgh to Lawrence and Hannah Nora Grey Schneider who preceded him in death.

He resided in Canonsburg since 1993 having previously resided in Carmichaels for 22 years.

Mr. Schneider was a faithful member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Canonsburg where he was a member of the Catholic Men’s Club. His memberships also included the Knights of Columbus Counsel 3291 where he served as a 4th degree Bishop Boyal Assembly.

He was a veteran having served in the United States Army during the Korean War in the 3rd Armored Tank Battalion. He was a member of VFW Post 191 in Canonsburg and the American Legion Post 902 in Houston.

Mr. Schneider was the last of his immediate family.

He is survived by his two sons Thomas Joseph Schneider (Deloris) of Murrysville and Edward Francis Schneider (Gail) of Red Oaks, Texas, a daughter Mary Elizabeth Doyle of Murrysville, three grandchildren Jennifer Lynn Schneider, Matthew Thomas Schneider, Kayleen Nicole Brand (Jonathan) and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Frank, Ray, Paul E. , Lawrence and Robert Schneider, his sister Josephine Hollarm and his former wife Sheila M. Schneider.

Friends are welcome from 2~4 pm and 6~8 p.m. on Sunday, July 1, 2018 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, LFD, owner/supervisor and Darla A. Tripoli, LFD, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg, 724-745-8120. The Knights of Columbus will be holding a service Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.  Departing prayers will begin at 9:30 am on Monday, July 2, 2018 in the funeral home.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 am in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 317 West Pike Street Canonsburg. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Canonsburg, with full military rites accorded by VFW Post 191 of Canonsburg and the United States Army Honor Guard.
