Andrew Evanoka Jr. age 92 of Strabane passed away peacefully at 12:15 am Sunday September 11, 2016 in the Donnell House, Washington following a brief illness. He was born December 10, 1923 a son of the late Andrew and Anna Myrgo Evanoka. Mr. Evanoka lived his life in Strabane and was a member of St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Canonsburg. He proudly served with the United States Army Air Corps in World War II as a B-29 Tail gunner in the Pacific Theatre. After the war he had been employed by the Ft. Pitt Bridgeworks, Weirton Steel and Mesta Machine. Mr. Evanoka was with the former Guzzell Hardware in Canonsburg for 35 years and worked with his son at David A. Evanoka Remodeling until he was 90. He enjoyed gardening and was a member of the VFW post 553 in Strabane and the Labor Temple in Canonsburg.

On July 27, 1946 he married Agnes Subrick in St. Michael’s Church who passed away February 9, 2011. He is survived by his son David A. (Cathy) Evanoka of Amity, two grandsons; Andrew (Jodi) Evanoka and Garrett (Juliann) Richardson and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Evanoka was the last of his immediate family. Deceased in addition to his wife and parents are three brothers; William, Michael and John and five sisters; Sophie, Betsy, Christine, Mary and Ann

Friends are welcome from 5 to 8pm on Tuesday September  13, 2016 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/ supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120. Devine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10am Wednesday September 14, 2016 in St Michaels Byzantine Catholic Church East College street Canonsburg with reverend Joseph Raptosh, pastor as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Michaels Church Cemetery. Panahida services will be recited at 4:45pm Tuesday in the funeral home.
