Barbara L. McGARY

Barbara L. McGary age 82 of Canonsburg passed away peacefully Thursday evening June 22, 2023, in Southmont of Presbyterian Care, Washington with her loving daughters by her side. She was born September 1, 1940, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a daughter of the late Theodore and Julia Rebosky Takacs. Barb was a graduate of Canon McMillan High School and Robert Morris College. She was raised in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, enjoyed gardening and planting flowers, arts and crafts and liked being on Kindle. She lived in Muse, then Canonsburg for fifty-six years and had been employed as a bookkeeper and office manager with MAC Plastics and was a long-time employee at the Meadows Racetrack with Harry M. Stevens Company. Prior to her retirement Barb had been an office manager with Broceous and Son Scaffolding. Left behind to cherish her memory are her devoted daughters Tracy (David) Peyton of Bradford and Dana (Vincent) Cilano of Allegany, New York, son Mark (Beverly) McGary of Burgettstown, three grandchildren, Raven (Ryan) Anspach, Brandon McGary and Heather (Mike) Jaracho, two great grandsons Lucas and Joey Anspach and 2 nephews Theodore and Dwayne Takacs. Barb was the last of her immediate family, deceased in addition to her parents is her brother Theodore “Uncle Boo” Takacs and her nephew Shane Takacs.

Friends and family are welcome from 5-8 pm Friday June 30, 2023, in SALANDRA FUNERAL and CREMATION SERVICES, INC. Joseph P. Salandra LFD owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg where departing prayers will be recited at 9:40 am Saturday, July 1, 2023. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am in St Oscar Romero Parish St. Patrick Church 317 West Pike Street Canonsburg. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Twp. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contribution be made to The Donnell House in Washington PA or St. Jude Childrens Research.
