Catherine (Kitty) Joan Stose Thomas

Catherine (Kitty) Joan Stose Thomas, 92, of Peters Township, passed away peacefully March 15, in St. Clair Hospital, following a stroke, with her family by her side.  Catherine was born August 11, 1931, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late John and Hazel Stose.  She was a graduate of Canonsburg High School, Class of 1949, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Robert Morris University, class of 1971.  She was a lifelong member of St. St. John XXIII Parish, St. Benedict the Abbot Church.  Catherine was employed at Mercy Hospital for 30 years, and, previously, at the RCA Plant and the Thomas Convalescent Home.  Family meant everything to her, and she enjoyed gatherings, holidays, gardening, basketball, Pgh sports, bowling, and her Irish heritage. She generously donated to many charitable organizations.  Survived by her beloved children, Christine (David) Nawrocki of Philadelphia, Donna (John) Dunbar of Bethel Park, Dan Thomas of Carnegie, Sean (Kelly) Thomas of Canonsburg, and Kathy Bias of Peters Township.  Also survived by her sister Patricia Zaniewski; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; cousins; and several nieces and nephews.  Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her daughter Robin, sisters Dorothy Lankes and Eileen Patten, and brother John Stose.  Friends and family are welcome from 5-8 pm Monday March 18 in SALANDRA FUNERAL and CREMATION SERVICES, INC Joseph P. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 pm Tuesday March 19, 2024, in St. John XXIII Parish, St. Benedict the Abbot Church 120 Abington Dr, McMurray.  Interment will be in Forest Lawn Gardens,  McMurray.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to be made to Sisters of Mercy, 3333 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA  15213.
