Paul Sharkady Sr.

Paul Sharkady, Sr., age 84 of Canonsburg passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born June 12, 1936 in Vestaburg, PA, a son of the late Michael and Mary Billak Sharkady.

Paul was a 1954 graduate of Centerville High School, where he met his wife Wanda Jollick and later married on May 21, 1960. After high school, Paul attended West Virginia University where he majored in physical education and played football for four years.

Paul served as a Canonsburg police officer for 37 years, retiring in 2001. He enjoyed spending time with his son Paul, working on the farm and cherished the time he spent with his wife and grandchildren.

He was a member of the FOP Lodge 22, once serving as past president, a lifetime member of the Moose Club and a member of the Elks Lodge #776.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 60 years, Wanda Jollick Sharkady of Canonsburg; son Paul Sharkady Jr., and his wife Kathy of Canonsburg; grandchildren Christopher Sharkady and Brianna Kelley and her husband Scott; sister Julia Moore of Bristol, RI and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased in addition to his parents are five brothers and three sisters.

Friends and family are welcome on Tuesday February 16, 2021 from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120, where a service will be held by the Fraternal Order of the Police, Lodge 22 at 7:00 p.m. followed by a Parastas Service at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday February 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home, Father John Kotalik, pastor of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church will preside.

Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, PA.
